Easy Easter Baby Chick Craft

Spring is the perfect time for cute crafts. Have fun with your kids and make this cute Easter baby chick craft. Kids love the bright yellow chick craft.

This is one of those quick Easter crafts which is a definite hit with kids. The tradition was to gift a live chick; it represents new life, fertility. Some people still follow it. Because of the practicality of it some now prefer gifting Chick soft toys or some chick crafts.

Easter is the central feast in the Christian Liturgical year. According to the Canonical gospels, Jesus rose from the dead on the third day after his crucifixion.
Some Christians celebrate this resurrection on Easter Day or Easter Sunday, two days after Good Friday and three days after Maundy Thursday.

Supplies you will need:
- Yellow Pom Poms 1 inch dia or bigger. (2 no.s for each Chick)
- Orange craft paper (Duplex paper or construction paper)
- Black foam sheet (for eyes) or Googly eyes
- Craft Glue
- Regular round Punch
- Scissors
- Orange Chennile Stems (1 for each chick)




Step by step instructions for Easter Chick

1. Glue two yellow pom poms. For fast and stronger bond use hot glue.
2. Punch the black foam sheet and get two little eyes. Peel and stick as shown.
3. Cut the little feather and the beak from orange craft paper.
The beak is basically two triangles, one on top of the other.
Decide the size based on the size of your pom poms.
4. Cut the Chennile stem and make the claws as shown in the picture.
It is a single big piece and 4 small pieces joined together to make these.
5. Hot glue the claws to the bottom pom pom.
6. Glue the feather on the head.

Gift wrapping and gift card for baby shower

Baby showers are such special occasions for the expectant parents. Its almost a year since I had mine and I still have wonderful memories of that day.

Any heartfelt gift for the coming baby is special for the parents. And if that gift is wrapped beautifully it makes it all the more special.

Recently I had to attend a baby shower of one of our friends. They are expecting a baby boy. I got all nostalgic about my baby shower last year and thought of creating something beautiful. I had a gift box for the gift already so thought of decorating it with a personalized card.

This card has baby birdie looking at his mother. I simply adore the moment when a child looks at his/her mother There is pure trust and unconditional love, something you experience all the more when you have your own child.

I attached the blue ribbons in crisscross over the gift box for added details. I used blue and white colors as it was for a baby boy. You can use pink and white for a girl, or any other fun color for a surprise.

Supplies needed for this project :

- Blue,White and brown card stock
- Scallop punch from Martha Stewart
- Glue
- Marker for the eyes
- Blue ribbon
- Gift Box

I cut the birdies and the branch freehand. If you find that difficult you can download patterns from internet.

I punched the blue card stock bottom to add the details and glued white card stock in the back to get the blue and white pattern. The blue ribbons on the gift box added to the pulled together look.

I hope my friend loved it as much as I loved making it.

Easy Gift wrapping for non-rectangular objects

With Father's Day approaching you are getting one more opportunity of wrapping gifts. Gift wrapping usually seems simple if the gift is a regular rectangle shape and comes in a box.It definitely becomes little tricky if it is any other shape than a rectangle and a square and little more challenging if it does not come in a box.

Gift wrapping is an art and is not such a big deal for some of us but believe me, it is a nightmare for many of us.Looking at our library of gifts we have wrapped overtime we are enclosing some pictures and ideas for gifts which are not rectangular.

Wrapping a fragile round shape object is best done in a cylindrical box. For father's day if you plan to give a golf ball or any other round or cylindrical small object for which you do not have any box visit a craft store and get a paper mache box. I was a dilemma when I had to gift the Pomander Ball shown in one of our earlier posts to my sister at her baby shower. To my surprise the idea came from my hubby.
He got a paper mache box which comes in brown color and is easily available in craft stores like Michaels and Hobby Lobby.

I decorated the box as shown in the picture. Supplies I used are blue wrapping paper, matching blue and white ribbon, doily. Since that is little fragile and I wanted to keep it a surprise till she opens the box I used box.
You can use cellophane paper if there is not much travel involved.

Something that really comes handy in wrapping something irregular in shape is cellophane or glassine paper and ribbon. With only these two supplies you can achieve a really presentable gift wrapping if it is something beautiful if visible partially. If there is something you do not want to show and still want to wrap in cellopane, using a colorful tissue paper first as a liner inside is also a good idea

This candle in a mosaic glass container is better off being shown through the cellophane paper with a matching ribbon tied as a bow.

Supplies and tools that come handy for gift wrapping irregular shapes.
Cellophane paper or Glassine Paper, Ribbon, Scotch Tape, Tissue Paper,Paper Mache boxes, Gift wrapping paper, Doily, Acrylic Paint.

Tip:You can use your imagination and instead of lining the box with paper you can also use acrylic paint. You might have to use multiple coat of paints if the box is brown and you are using light color.

Paper Quilled Easter Egg

With Easter around the corner I was all charged up to try a new way of decorating eggs. This is how you can use the paper quilling technique for decorating egg.
Supplies needed:
Egg (contents emptied)
Paper quilling strips yellow, orange, green, blue
White A4 Sheet
Glitter- Silver
Glue
Brush
To prepare egg refer to the tutorial How to prepare Easter eggs for decoration. If you have read some of our previous articles on paper quilling you can create this egg really easily and it is great fun for kids too. This egg is made with some shapes we have taught in detail earlier like simple curl, teardrops, rose and daisy. I have used colored ready made quilling strips and for white I have used A4 sheet printing paper.
Simply use craft glue to stick the shapes as seen in the below pictures.

A little goes a long way. I have used glitter to enhance the white quilled teardrop shapes at the border. Use brush to apply glue and glitter to these paper quilled teardrop shape. Follow the pictures to create the design I have made or you can create your own. Make sure you close the hole using the paper quilling shapes. For this project you can easily use any gift wrapping paper or magazine paper too.


Tips:
-You can also use wooden eggs for this craft if you want to avoid hassle of preparing real egg.
-Real eggs in various sizes are also avialable for purchase online.
-You can make Paper quilling egg ornament by inserting ribbon through the hole using a large needle before closing the holes.
-Beautiful Easter eggs can be used to decorate your home in baskets as well as stands.
-They make great gifts too. Eggs represent fertility and are a favorite gifts for baby shower or as a favor.

Baby Socks Rose Bouquet

In continuation to the series of gift ideas for Baby Shower, I present my version of the very popular Baby Socks Rose Bouquet. One of the cutest things to gift for a baby are the cute little socks.I had bought 6 pairs of baby socks for my sister's baby shower. But the idea of giving socks in their standard packing was not very appealing to me. So, I decided to pack it in a different way. During my search over internet for gift ideas I came across a gift basket where they folded onesies and socks as roses. I decided to make my version of rose bouquet made of socks for my sis. I used blue and green socks for this. You can use neutral colors or you can go by the thumb rule of blue for boys and pink or similar shades for girls.
Again, this is an easy project. I think the pictures are enough for you to understand how to go about it.



I bought this container from Target, you can use any other vase as well. However, I suggest using solid color vase as it will hide the styrofoam and the wires. Knit socks give the best results. Styrofoam is used to fix the Sock rose in the container.


You can use plastic or paper leaf.


The number of socks required depends on how big your arrangement is. Use wire to tie your bow made out of a matching ribbon. Have fun making this cute little craft.

Tip : These socks can be easily removed and washed for wearing once the baby shower party is over and you are finished clicking the pictures or may be once your baby is there and ready to wear one :-)

Pomander Ball with Clay Flowers

Happy New Year to all those who read our Blog. Thanks for all the encouragement and appreciation during the past year.
This new year we will have a new category for Gift ideas for Special Occasions. To begin with we will share Baby Shower Gift ideas.
This is one of my favorite creations so far. I think this is my best creation ever.
This project is closest to my heart. I made this for my sister for her Baby Shower. I wanted to make something special and unique. The idea was to create something that she will cherish for a long time to come. She is adorable and so truly deserves this beautiful creation. Since, she was expecting a baby boy I decided to make Pomander ball of blue roses. I used five petal white flowers to give a soothing effect and enhance the effect of blue color.
Pomander Ball, also known as Kissing Ball is the cutest thing I discovered recently. Pomander ball is used in Weddings, Christmas decorations and also as Baby shower decorations. Usually fresh flowers are used as it requires a lot of flowers. Making them in clay makes it extra special and this way it lasts longer. Pomander Ball with clay flowers is a labor intensive project, but once completed you really get the satisfaction of creating something magnificent.
Believe me when you make it for someone close to your heart and they appreciate it as much as you do, you feel all the effort was so much worth it.
